KATHMANDU: As of Friday morning, 137 people have lost their lives due to disaster-related incidents, including floods and landslides, since the onset of the monsoon on June 10.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Nepal Police and spokesperson, Dan Bahadur Karki, stated that fatalities include two in the Kathmandu Valley, 22 in Koshi Province, six in Madhes Province, 28 in Bagmati Province, and 38 in Gandaki Province.
Additionally, 23 people died in Lumbini Province, eight in Karnali Province, and 10 in Sudurpaschim Province.
Accoridng to the police, 148 people have been injured: nine in the Kathmandu Valley, 34 in Koshi Province, nine each in Madhes, Lumbini, and Bagmati provinces, 29 in Gandaki Province, 35 in Karnali Province, and 14 in Sudurpaschim Province.
Seven individuals remain missing as a result of the floods and landslides, and search operations are ongoing, Karki added.
Furthermore, 4,030 families have been displaced due to the monsoon-related disasters.
