KATHMANDU: Joint-secretaries from various ministries, representing the technical stream, have urged the government to reinstate the Technical Secretary posts that were previously eliminated.
They expressed their concerns during a meeting with Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka.
Madhu Prasad Bhetwal, Joint Secretary from the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, stated that the removal of these secretary roles within the engineering services, particularly at the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction and the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, has hindered the career development opportunities for technical professionals in the civil service.
Bhetwal emphasized the importance of the technical workforce in achieving the government’s development and prosperity goals, and called for the appropriate mobilization of technical experts in relevant sectors.
In response, Minister Khadka assured the joint secretaries that their concerns would be taken into consideration. He acknowledged the importance of employee motivation and improved performance in ensuring effective government operations.
