Health Ministry allocates Rs 80 million to stem dengue outbreak at local levels

KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Poudel, has assured that the Ministry is actively engaged in preventing and controlling the dengue virus.

Minister Poudel outlined the government’s strategy, highlighting efforts to locate and eliminate mosquito breeding grounds.

He emphasized the establishment of a Dengue Task Force under the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, with rapid response teams deployed across provinces and local levels.

To intensify the search and destroy campaign, Minister Poudel disclosed an allocation of nearly Rs 80 million for local levels and Rs 20 million for districts.

Acknowledging the rise in dengue cases during the monsoon, he noted the procurement of rapid test kits and the orientation of over 800 doctors from public and private hospitals on the national treatment protocol for dengue fever, aimed at reducing fatalities.

According to government data, more than 1,800 cases of dengue fever have been confirmed across 73 districts nationwide.
