Lawmaker Giri calls for immediate restoration of power supply to industries

KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) lawmaker Padam Giri has urged for the immediate resumption of power supply to industries, criticizing the current situation where businesses are being forced to shut down due to a lack of electricity.

During an urgent session of the House of Representatives today, Giri emphasized the need to restore power as directed by the Prime Minister.

He highlighted the paradox where domestic power production is not meeting market demands, while industries are facing closures due to power shortages.

“This issue must be addressed promptly,” Giri said.

In other parliamentary developments, Rajendra Kumar KC of the Nepali Congress called for an investigation into allegations of bribery involving lawmaker Dr. Birendra Mahato, who is said to have paid a bribe to secure an equivalence certificate for his son.

Hit Bahadur Tamang of the CPN (Maoist Centre) presented details of the physical damage caused by landslides and floods in Nuwakot district and urged the government to take proactive measures to mitigate further disaster risks.

Gyan Bahadur Shahi of the Rastriya Prajantra Party demanded action against those making derogatory statements about Sanatana religion, while Ranendra Baraili of the CPN (Maoist Centre) called for government efforts to locate missing buses and passengers.

Manish Jha of the Rastriya Swatantra Party requested the Foreign Ministry to update the House on the condition of Nepalis in Bangladesh.

He also expressed concern over disruptions at Janaki Eye Hospital due to a conflict between two groups.
