Rabi’s comment on NC-UML Collaboration: Binod Chaudhary’s song at Balkot alarmed us

Allegedly involved in Bhutanese Refugee scam, Balmandir land scam, Scout's land embezzlement rewarded

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane expressed concerns about the emerging alliance between the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML.

Participating in the discussion on Prime Minister KP Oli’s confidence motion in the House of Representatives on Sunday, Lamichhane acknowledged Oli’s political contributions and sacrifices.

“We have always respected his political contributions and sacrifices without hesitation. We still respect him. However, right at the start of the government, while we were investigating certain issues, a person released on parole was singing at Balkot, and we were surprised to hear this while an investigation into the Bansbari Land scam was ongoing,” Lamichhane said, explaining, “That made us suspicious. Then the Cabinet was formed. Everywhere we raised issues, rewards were seen instead. The investigation into the fake Bhutanese refugee case resumed, and we all saw who joined the Cabinet. Parliament and the country are well aware.”

Lamichhane pointed out that rewards were given in areas where they raised concerns.

“We raised the issue of Balmandir land embezzlement. Was there a reward there too? As we raised the issue of Balmandir, a certain member joined the Cabinet, which also created a disturbing environment for us,” he said, adding, “Mr. Speaker, I have to say this. Not just that, we raised the issue of the Scouts, and again we looked at the Cabinet. Everywhere we raised questions, rewards were given. How can we trust this?”
