Nepal defeats UAE in Women’s Asia Cup opener with Samjhana’s stellar performance



KATHMANDU: Nepal made a victorious start in the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup by defeating the UAE by 6 wickets in the opening match.

Chasing a target of 116 runs set by the UAE, Nepal reached the target in 16.1 overs with 4 wickets down.

Samjhana Khadka played an outstanding innings, scoring an unbeaten 72 runs, while Rubina Chhetri contributed 10 runs.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being sent to bat first, the UAE scored 115 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.

For the UAE, Khushi Sharma was the top scorer with 36 runs, followed by Kavisha Egodage with 22 runs and Sameera Dharanindhar with 13 runs.

On the bowling front, Nepali captain Indu Barma took the most wickets, claiming 3, while Sabanam Rai, Kabita Joshi, and Kritika Marasini each took one wicket.

Nepal will play its next match against Pakistan on Sunday, while the UAE will face India on the same day.
