Health Ministry urges federal hospitals to operate services even in additional hours

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has urged federal hospitals to operate health services even in additional hours.

Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr Prakash Budhathoki, requested the federal hospitals to operate their services even in additional hours to increase people’s access to quality health services in easy and smooth manner.

The Ministry has brought ‘Procedure for operating expanded hospital services programme-2077’ into implementation in order to run services even in additional hours.

Budhathoki requested the Ministry to operate the service as soon as possible and to inform the ministry about the operation of the service.

He further said the procedure has made arrangement where the hospital could charge up to maximum 200 per cent of the regular service charge.

A program operating committee should be formed comprising the chief of the hospital to run program, reads the procedure.

Additional service could also be operated in community and cooperative hospitals as well as local levels under its responsibility could also run additional service at the hospital.

He mentioned that an agreement has reached between the Ministry and federal hospitals of Kathmandu Valley to revise the procedure as per the need.
