KATHMANDU: The Nepali Embassy in Dhaka has advised Nepali students in Bangladesh to stay indoors due to escalating violence related to anti-reservation protests.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the embassy urged Nepali students to avoid leaving their current locations unless absolutely necessary.
The embassy also requested that, should college administrations direct students to relocate to safer places or if current accommodations become unsafe, students should contact the embassy for assistance.
So far, the protests have resulted in the deaths of six people, including three students.
The protests erupted over reservations granted to the children of those who participated in Bangladesh’s independence movement, with students opposing this policy.
Violent clashes have been reported across various parts of the country between protesting students and the Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of the ruling Awami League.
