KATHMANDU: The Nepal Red Cross Society has claimed that disinformation against the positive initiatives taken by the incumbent executive committee regarding blood transfusion and institutional good governance has been carried out in a planned manner.

Organizing a press meeting at the central office of the NRCS on Wednesday, President Sudarshan Nepal said the spreading of fabricated and false information under the pretext of investigating the Nepal Red Cross Society is against the existing law.

He mentioned that they were surprised as the internal report of the probe committee was published in various newspapers before it was received by the Society.

Nepal also expressed concern over efforts made to defame the image of the Red Cross by some individuals, adding the incumbent central working committee was active in humanitarian service following law, rule and statute.

He explained that the incumbent working committee was committed to maintaining transparency, accountability, financial discipline and quality in the service.

Similarly, General-Secretary of Nepal Red Cross Society, Bhupati Lal Shrestha, mentioned that blood transfusion service was being provided by using the reagent, tests and equipment recognized by the WHO and the FDA of USA.

He clarified that standards in selection of blood donors, blood donation process, blood infection test, repair and maintenance of medical appliances, and waste management have been carried out following the National Blood Transfusion Policy, 2071 BS.
