KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has asserted that the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government faced no obstacles in launching investigations into corruption cases.
Following Wednesday’s secretariat meeting, Pradip Gyawali, the party’s deputy general secretary, criticized PM Dahal and Home Minister Lamichhane for what he termed as unnecessary theatrics.
“Prachanda has been leading the government for the past 19 months. No one prevented him from pursuing any investigations,” Gyawali remarked.
He also pointed out that Rabi Lamichhane, who has served twice as Home Minister, faced no barriers to taking action or initiating probes.
“We have been anticipating proactive steps from the government in this regard,” Gyawali emphasized.
Once a key coalition partner, CPN-UML recently withdrew its support from the Dahal-led government and aligned with the main opposition party, Nepali Congress, in a bid to topple the administration.
