Man swept away by river while collecting wood in Tanahu

TANAHU: A tragic incident occurred this morning in Byas municipality-1 of Tanahu district, where Tal Bahadur Thapa, 55, was swept away by the Seti River while pulling out wood.

The District Police Office in Tanahu reported that Thapa was gathering firewood from the river when the current overtook him.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipak Raya stated that the search for Thapa is ongoing.

Locals often gather along riverbanks to collect wood washed down by flooded rivers and streams, a practice that, while essential for firewood, can be perilous.

In related news, the Prithvi Highway, previously obstructed by a landslide, has reopened for one-way traffic since this morning.
