RSP lawmaker Jha urges NC, UML to trust each other

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Manish Jha has urged leaders of the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML to trust each other.

Speaking during a special session of the House of Representatives on Monday, Jha criticized NC and UML for demanding the Prime Minister’s resignation, suggesting that it demonstrated a lack of trust in the parliamentary system and the constitution.

He noted that while the Prime Minister still had ample time to seek a vote of confidence, the NC and UML appeared fearful, despite the scheduled vote on July 12.

The RSP lawmaker emphasized that there were still four days left and urged them not to panic about potential instability.

“Why such distrust in the parliamentary system and the constitution that you yourselves established? Are you really afraid another instability will arise in these four days? You have the numbers and the potential majority. Just wait for four days. Trust each other,” Jha said, adding, “If you sing praises of cooperation and partnership, then you must also practice trust. Why fear these four days? What is being practiced now is what you have enshrined in the constitution and parliamentary system.”

He also criticized NC-UML for reaching an agreement on new alliance in a meeting at a businessman’s house rather than doing it transparently in party office or the parliament itself.
