KATHMANDU: Chief Whip of the CPN-UML, Mahesh Bartaula, has leveled accusations of attempting to destabilize the country against Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

Speaking during today’s meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR), Bartaula claimed that despite being in the minority, efforts were underway to prolong the government’s tenure.

He alleged that Baluwatar’s (PM’s official residence) actions were aimed at steering Nepal towards instability by obstructing the formation of a new government.

“Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s insistence on perpetuating the current government has exacerbated tensions,” Bartaula asserted.

He pointed out that the UML’s growing skepticism prompted their decision to collaborate with the Nepali Congress, following their departure from the government where they felt weakened.

Bartaula emphasized the UML’s commitment to implementing agreements with the Nepali Congress, framing the current situation as a threat to Nepal’s constitutional framework.

He cited Article 76, Clause 2 of the Constitution, stressing that there were no constitutional barriers to forming a new government.

Calling on Prime Minister Dahal to facilitate the transition by resigning promptly, Bertaula urged against delaying the process.
