KATHMANDU: The toll from floods and landslides triggered by relentless monsoon rains has risen to 70 fatalities, with five individuals still unaccounted for, according to the Police Headquarters.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dan Bahadur Karki, the Central Police Spokesperson, said that as of Monday morning, 86 people have sustained injuries in incidents across the country since June 10.
Those injured are currently receiving treatment in local hospitals.
Over the period, there have been 966 reported cases of flooding and landslides, resulting in damage to 86 homes and the loss of 335 livestock.
The ongoing heavy rainfall continues to disrupt daily life across the nation. To manage the crisis, 4,790 police personnel have been deployed for rescue and relief efforts.
The estimated financial damage caused by these monsoon-related disasters stands at Rs 95,674,250.
