RPP to decide later on joining NC-UML govt; supports constitutional amendment

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) will decide later whether to join the newly formed Nepali Congress and CPN-UML government.

During a meeting held at the party’s central office in Dhumbarahi on Tuesday, the RPP expressed its support for constitutional amendment.

After the meeting, RPP chief whip Gyanendra Shahi said, “We are in favor of amending the Constitution. We will decide on joining the new government after assessing the situation.”

The meeting discussed the altered political landscape following Monday night’s agreement between Nepali Congress and UML on power sharing, emphasizing the constitutional amendment agenda.

According to the agreement, the RPP has now publicly disclosed its stance.
