KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has called for unity among left-wing forces, urging exploration of common ground on ideological issues.

He made these remarks at a program commemorating the birth centenary of the late Pushpalal Shrestha in Kathmandu today.

Prime Minister Dahal, who also serves as the Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre), expressed his party’s openness to unifying communist forces.

Pushpalal Shrestha, the founder general-secretary of the Nepal Communist Party, was highlighted by Dahal as a pivotal figure in communist history.

Reflecting on past efforts to unite Nepal’s communist parties, Dahal acknowledged previous shortcomings due to hasty decisions on ideological alignment.

He stressed the importance of learning from these experiences to identify commonalities among left-wing forces and strengthen cooperation.

Dahal underscored ongoing efforts to improve people’s lives in line with systemic changes, noting significant progress in infrastructure, education, health, and social security since the abolition of feudalism.

He highlighted achievements such as Nepal’s socialist-oriented constitution, which replaced the feudal monarchy with an inclusive republic, federalism, multilingualism, secularism, and progressive cultural reforms.

Calling for comprehensive discussions on ideological issues, Dahal emphasized the need to craft a shared vision for Nepal’s socialist revolution.

He encouraged open debates focused on determination rather than historical biases, aiming for constructive conclusions.

Prime Minister Dahal described Pushpalal as a principled, knowledgeable leader with a deep commitment to the working class, blending a warrior spirit with simplicity and sociopolitical expertise in history, sociology, and anthropology.
