West Indies achieves stunning 9-wicket victory against USA



KATHMANDU: West Indies secured a remarkable 9-wicket victory over the USA in the ICC T20 World Cup ‘Super 8′.

Chasing a target of 129 runs set by the USA, West Indies reached the goal in 10.5 overs.

West Indies amassed 130 runs for the loss of just one wicket, clinching a decisive win.

Shai Hope was the standout performer for West Indies, scoring an unbeaten 82 runs off 39 balls, including eight sixes and four fours.

Nicholas Pooran added an unbeaten 27 runs, while Johnson Charles was dismissed for 15 runs.

For the USA, Harmeet Singh took the only wicket.

After losing the toss, the USA batted first and scored 128 runs in 19.5 overs, losing all their wickets.

Andries Gous top-scored for the USA with 29 runs.

Nitish Kumar was out for 20, Milind Kumar for 19, and Saurabh Netravalkar for 18 runs.

Ali Khan contributed 14 runs, while Aaron Jones was dismissed for 11.

Roston Chase and Andre Russell each took three wickets for West Indies.

Alzarri Joseph claimed two wickets, and Gudakesh Motie took one.

This was West Indies’ first win in Group 2 of the Super 8 stage of the World Cup.

They had previously lost to England by 8 wickets.

With this victory, West Indies moved to second place in the standings with two points.

The USA, having lost their first match to South Africa by 18 runs, remains without any points after two games.

South Africa leads the group with four points.

England, having played two games with one win and one loss, has two points.
