PM and Finance Minister should intervene to rewrite ministry budgets: Ramesh Lekhak

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak has called for a revision of ministry budgets, citing fundamental flaws in their allocation.

Speaking to journalists at the Parliament building on Wednesday, Lekhak criticized the current budgetary allocations, stating that many ministers have irresponsibly diverted a significant portion of their ministry’s budget to their constituencies and districts.

“This practice is immature, irresponsible, and an abuse of power,” he remarked.

He urged Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Finance Minister Barshaman Pun to take immediate action to rectify the budget allocations.

“The Prime Minister and Finance Minister must intervene in this budget allocation process. They need to question the ministers about their allocation decisions and revise the ministry budgets accordingly. Otherwise, it will appear that the Prime Minister and Finance Minister themselves are complicit in this improper distribution of funds,” the NC Chief Whip asserted.
