Monsoon affecting eastern Nepal; rain in four provinces

KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecast Division has stated that the monsoon system is currently affecting the eastern part of the country, with the rest of the country under the partial influence of local wind and the low-pressure area around Bihar in India.

According to the Division, it is completely cloudy in Koshi and Madhesh provinces, generally cloudy to completely cloudy in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and partly cloudy to mostly clear in the rest of the areas.

Light to moderate rain with thunder is occurring in a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Karnali provinces and a couple of places in Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.

This afternoon, the weather will remain partly cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder in a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces and some places in the remaining areas, including Madhesh Province.

Additionally, there is a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places in the Koshi Province.

Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, with partly cloudy to clear weather in the rest of the region.

Light to moderate rain with thunder is expected in some places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces and a couple of places in the remaining areas.

In the next 24 hours, some places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces and one or two places in the rest of the country are likely to experience light to moderate rain with thunder.

The Division has urged vigilance to avoid the risk or damage of flash floods, landslides, and erosion that may occur in the area due to the possibility of heavy rains affecting the daily life of the people in those areas, including agriculture, health, tourism, mountain climbing, road, and air transport.
