Capital grapples with petrol shortage as tanker drivers protest (with photos)

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Petroleum Tanker Driver Association is staging a protest, triggering a petrol shortage in Kathmandu, the federal capital of Nepal.

The association has halted the supply of petrol, resulting in the closure of privately run petrol pumps in Kathmandu, according to Lelendra Pradhan, Chairman of the Nepal Petroleum Dealers Association.

Customers have flocked to government-owned petrol pumps in Kathmandu since early Monday morning, with thousands waiting in line to refill their vehicles at Sajha Petrol Pump, Nepal Police Petrol Pump, and Armed Police Force Petrol Pump.

These petrol pumps use their own tankers to transport fuel.
