Landslide sweeps away three houses in Sankhuwasabha



SANKHUWASABHA: A landslide in Koktima village, located in Khandbari Municipality-11 of Sankhuwasabha district, swept away three houses, injuring one person.

The incident occurred amidst heavy rainfall last night.

The affected houses belong to Mani Prasad Rai, Ram Prasad Rai, and Dil Bahadur Rai, according to Acting Chief of Police Inspector Ram Kumar Lamichhane of the District Police Office.

Among them, Mani Prasad Rai sustained injuries in the landslide.

Following the displacement caused by the landslide, the affected individuals are seeking shelter in neighboring houses.

Binod Subba Gurung, the Chairman of Ward 4, disclosed that four houses in Khandbari-4 Sekaha were displaced due to landslides.

Additionally, police warned of the high risk of landslides for five houses in Chichila Rural Municipality 1 and 2.

Police said that authorities are currently assessing the extent of damage caused by the floods and landslides in the district.

Furthermore, the landslide inflicted damage on the North-South Koshi road, affecting a four-kilometer stretch earmarked for blacktopping under the North-South Koshi Road Project.

Continuous rainfall led to the obstruction of the road in Num of Makalu Rural Municipality due to a landslide.
