Hearing on writ petition against JSP Nepal split today

KATHMANDU: The hearing for the writ petition filed by Upendra Yadav, Chairman of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal, against the party’s split, is scheduled for Sunday at the Supreme Court.

Previously, a joint bench comprising Judges Hari Prasad Phuyal and Til Prasad Shrestha had set the date for the continuation of the hearing.

Chairman Yadav filed the petition against the formation of a separate Janata Samajbadi Party by Ashok Rai, following a split from JSP Nepal.

He also challenged the Election Commission’s decision to recognize the new party, arguing it was unconstitutional.

Earlier, a single bench presided over by Judge Binod Sharma had summoned both parties for discussions on May 21, postponing all proceedings related to the party’s split.
