Newly appointed Madhesh Province CM Satish Singh sworn in

KATHMANDU: Satish Kumar Singh, the newly elected Chief Minister (CM) of Madhesh Province, took the oath of office and secrecy on Friday afternoon.

Province Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari administered the oath to CM Singh.

Singh was earlier appointed CM of the province with the support of six political parties, including the CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), and CPN (Unified Socialist).

The appointment came after Province Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari called for parties to stake their claim to the post following the failure of outgoing CM Saroj Kumar Yadav of Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal to secure a vote of confidence on Wednesday.

Prior to his appointment, Singh served as a member of the provincial assembly from Saptari.

He also held the position of Chairman of Tilathi Koiladi in Saptari district in 2075 BS.

After a defeat in the local level election in 2079 BS, he was nominated as a candidate by his party and elected as a member of the provincial assembly.
