Governor Adhikari stresses fiscal productivity and flexibility in monetary policy

KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Mahaprasad Adhikari has raised concerns over the unproductive nature of the government’s capital expenditure and the bank’s investment and vowed to maintain flexibility in the monetary policy in the upcoming fiscal year.

Speaking at an event organized by the Economic Media Society Nepal (EMSON) in Kathmandu, Governor Adhikari highlighted that the central bank has been implementing flexible monetary policies in the second and third reviews of the monetary policy.

He also mentioned that discussions with concerned authorities will be held through appropriate channels for the upcoming monetary policy.

Governor Adhikari urged the private sector to invest in productive sectors.

He claimed that many aspects of this year’s budget have been focused on private sector engagement, keeping private sectors at the forefront.

Adhikari emphasized the importance of honest efforts in the budget, along with considering how the private sector can be brought along.

He mentioned that special attention has been given to agriculture to make it sustainable and foster its growth in the budget.
