KATHMANDU: The political landscape is shifting as parties gear up to displace the Janata Samajbadi Party-led government in Madhes, with preparations underway to form a new government under the leadership of the Janamat Party.
In a prolonged struggle against Upendra Yadav-led JSP, Dr. CK Raut’s Janamat Party, positioned as the third largest party in the provincial assembly, is intensifying efforts to forge a coalition government in Madhes.
Sources reveal that a consensus has been reached among UML Chairman KP Oli, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, and CPN-Unified Socialist Party Chairman Madhav Nepal regarding this endeavor.
Following discussions held on Friday between Oli, Prime Minister Dahal, and Unified Socialist Party Chairman Nepal, momentum has surged towards establishing a government led by the Janamat Party.
Previously aligned with JSP’s Saroj Kumar Yadav’s administration, both CPN (UML) and Maoist Center have withdrawn from the Madhes government.
Earlier, Janamat Party leaders met with UML Chair Oli, seeking his approval for the Madhes government formation.
Madhes Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav has slated a vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly for June 5.
Expressing optimism, Janamat Party’s leader Chandan Singh stated confidence in the swift establishment of a new government under the leadership of his party immediately following Yadav’s anticipated setback.
