KATHMANDU: The government has increased the Value Added Tax (VAT) on tobacco products and alcohol.

Unveiling the budget for the fiscal year 2024/25, Finance Minister Barsa Man Pun announced that the government has lifted VAT imposed on vegetables such as potatoes and onions.

While VAT has been lifted for vegetables, the government has opted to raise the VAT on tobacco products and alcohol.
