Task force meeting to find common ground for probe panel ToR

KATHMANDU: A task force formed to prepare the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the proposed parliamentary investigation committee is scheduled to hold a meeting on Saturday.

The meeting will take place at 3 PM at the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs in Singha Durbar, according to Mahesh Bartaula, chief whip of CPN-UML and a member of the task force.

Despite holding several meetings, the task force has yet to reach a consensus on the ToR for the probe panel.

The main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), has been adamant about including Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s name in the ToR, a demand the ruling alliance has refused.

A meeting of key party leaders held in Baluwatar on Friday agreed to present new proposals at today’s meeting.

The NC has been obstructing both sessions of parliament, insisting that it will not allow the sessions to function smoothly unless a parliamentary probe committee is formed to investigate Home Minister Lamichhane.
