US Embassy refuses to grant visa to Sandeep Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: The US Embassy in Nepal has rejected cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane’s visa application.

Sandeep confirmed this information through social media on Wednesday.

He was planning to leave for the USA and the West Indies to participate in the T-20 World Cup.

Other members of the Nepali team have already flown abroad for the matches.

“And the U.S. Embassy in Nepal did it again, what they did back in 2019: they denied my visa for the T-20 World Cup happening in the USA and the West Indies,” Lamichhane wrote on his social media.

He has mentioned the incident as unfortunate and apologized for not being able to play for Nepal this time.

Earlier, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) had decided to include Lamichhane in the team to participate in the T-20 World Cup.
