KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC), the main opposition party, and major parties of the ruling coalition have reached an agreement to form a probe committee to investigate cooperatives-related fraud.
A meeting involving four parties, namely NC, CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist Center, and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), convened at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, arrived at a consensus to form the probe committee.
During the meeting, it was decided to establish a task force to draft the terms of reference (TOR) under the coordination of Law Minister Padam Giri.
NC Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak shared that major parties in the parliament have agreed to form probe committee and the initiation would be the task force.
He further revealed that the task force would start work on terms of reference (TOR) from Sunday morning.
The discussion at Baluwatar today included Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli, Home Minister and RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, General Secretary Gagan Thapa, National Assembly Chief Whip Krishna Prasad Sitaula, and Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak.
