PM Dahal agrees to form probe committee: Nepali Congress

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and key leaders of the Nepali Congress held a meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Saturday morning.

According to Ramesh Lekhak, Chief Whip of the Nepali Congress, Prime Minister Dahal has agreed to form a parliamentary committee to investigate the cooperative fraud case.

“PM Dahal is positive about forming a probe committee. He wants the parliamentary deadlock to end,” Lekhak added.

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Vice Chairman Purna Bahadur Khadka, General Secretary Gagan Thapa, and Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak attended the half-hour meeting with the Prime Minister this morning.

The Nepali Congress has been demanding a parliamentary committee to investigate allegations of cooperative fraud involving Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

Due to the ruling alliance’s reluctance to form the probe committee, the NC has been obstructing meetings of both the lower and upper houses of parliament.
