UML parliamentary party meeting emphasizes govt’s policies and programs

KATHMANDU: The CPN (UML) parliamentary party is currently convening, with a focus on the government’s policies and programmes.

The meeting, taking place at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor, began with Party Chairperson KP Sharma Oli addressing the government’s policies and programmes, the ongoing parliamentary obstruction by the opposition, and contemporary issues.

Vice-Chairperson and former Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel, General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel, former Finance Minister Dr Yubraj Bhusal, and others are slated to provide insights into the government’s policies and programmes, the upcoming fiscal year’s budget, and the UML’s role in the meeting, as announced by the party’s Chief Whip, Mahesh Bartaula.

President Ramchandra Paudel outlined the government’s policies and programmes during a joint session of the federal parliament on Tuesday.

However, the agenda of expressing gratitude to the President has not progressed in parliament due to the Nepali Congress’s obstruction in subsequent sessions.

The Nepali Congress has been disrupting parliamentary proceedings, demanding the formation of a parliamentary probe committee to investigate the cooperative fraud scam.
