KATHMANDU: In today’s National Assembly meeting, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, representing the main opposition party Nepali Congress, reiterated the call for establishing a parliamentary investigation committee to address the issue of embezzlement within cooperatives, allegedly involving Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

Sitaula emphasized that without the formation of this committee, it would be challenging to proceed with the House sessions.

Highlighting the party’s consistent advocacy for the formation of a parliamentary probe committee, Sitaula clarified that their intention is not to demand the Home Minister’s resignation but to uncover the truth through a thorough investigation.

He reiterated that the parliament’s meeting cannot advance unless the investigation committee is established and expressed hope that the government would promptly form the committee through consensus.

Similarly, CPN (Unified Socialist) lawmaker Dr. Beduram Bhusal stressed the importance of the upcoming fiscal year’s budget in fostering a sense of progressive reform within the nation.

He emphasized the need for the budget to prioritize societal reforms and create a forward-looking outlook.

Meanwhile, CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Maya Prasad Sharma emphasized the necessity of ensuring the implementability of the next fiscal year’s budget.

He urged for budgetary allocations to be based on actual needs rather than political affiliations, emphasizing the completion of national pride projects within stipulated deadlines.
