Deuba calls office bearers meeting to strategize NC’s approach for upcoming budget session

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has convened a crucial meeting with former and current party office bearers to chart out strategies for the impending budget session of the parliament.

The decision to convene the meeting comes in the wake of the recent splintering of the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal (JSP-N), which has added a new dimension to Nepal’s political landscape.

Scheduled for Wednesday at 2 pm, the meeting will take place at Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha.

Among the key agenda items is the party’s stance on the formation of a parliamentary committee to probe allegations of cooperative fraud, with suspicions pointing towards Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

In response, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), led by Lamichhane, has asserted that they would entertain NC’s demands provided Lamichhane is cleared of any wrongdoing by the government.

The discord between these political factions sets the stage for a potentially tumultuous budget session in parliament.
