Japanese and Nepali Foreign Ministers engage in bilateral talks

KATHMANDU: Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa and Nepali Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha held bilateral talks on Sunday in Kathmandu.

Minister Kamikawa’s one-day visit to Nepal, in response to an invitation from Minister Shrestha, aimed to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.

Discussions centered on enhancing mutual support and cooperation.

During her visit, Minister Kamikawa also toured Kathmandu’s Basantapur Durbar Square, immersing herself in Nepali arts and architecture for approximately 30 minutes.

This marks her first visit to Nepal since assuming office as Japan’s Foreign Minister.

Minister Kamikawa’s itinerary includes courtesy meetings with President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda.’

Her visit underscores the enduring relationship between Nepal and Japan, with Kamikawa being the fourth Japanese Foreign Minister to visit Nepal since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
