CAN announces Nepali squad for T20 World Cup: Sagar and Kamal secure spots in final 15



KATHMANDU: Nepal has announced its 15-member squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The team includes Sagar Dhakal and Kamal Singh Airee, who have secured their places.

Akash Chand and Bivek Yadav, who had been part of national squad during the team’s India visit are left out.

Captain Rohit Paudel along with Aasif Sheikh, Anil Kumar Sah, Kushal Bhurtel, and Sandeep Jora are included as batsmen.

Similarly, Deepender Singh Airee, Kushal Malla, and Gulshan Jha serve as all-rounders.

In the fast-paced unit, there’s Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Pratish GC, and Kamal Singh Airee.

Likewise, Sagar Dhakal and Lalit Rajbanshi fill the spinner roles.

Nepali Team:

Rohit Paudel (Captain), Asif Sheikh, Anil Kumar Sah, Kushal Bhurtel, Kushal Malla, Deepender Singh Airee, Lalit Rajbanshi, Karan KC, Gulshan Jha, Sompal Kami, Pratish GC, Sandeep Jora, Abinash Bohara, Sagar Dhakal, Kamal Singh Airee.

In the T20 World Cup 2024, Nepal is in Group D. Nepal will compete against South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands in the group stage.

Nepal will play its first match against the Netherlands on June 4 in Dallas, USA, and against Sri Lanka on June 11 in Florida, USA.

The remaining matches will be against South Africa on June 14 and Bangladesh on June 16, both in Saint Vincent.

The group stage matches will be held from June 1 to 18.

After that, the Super 8s will take place from June 19 to 24, with the semifinals on June 26 and 27, and the final on June 29.

Nepal’s Matches:
vs Netherlands – June 4 – Dallas, USA
vs Sri Lanka – June 11 – Florida, USA
vs South Africa – June 14 – Saint Vincent
vs Bangladesh – June 16 – Saint Vincent

India and Pakistan will play their group matches on June 9 in New York.

Nepal’s matches will be in the USA and the West Indies.

The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is being jointly hosted by the USA for the first time in the North American region.

In this T20 World Cup, 20 teams will participate for the first time.

There will be 55 matches in the World Cup.

Initially, 20 teams will be divided into 4 groups of 5 teams each.

The top 2 teams from each group will advance to the Super 8s, totaling 8 teams.

In the Super 8s, there will be competition in two groups.

The top 2 teams from each Super 8 group will advance to the semifinals.

Group A: India, Pakistan, USA, Canada, Ireland

Group B: England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, Oman

Group C: New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda, Papua New Guinea

Group D: South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands, Nepal
