PM Dahal urges practical projects over wish lists for Investment Summit success

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ emphasized the importance of engaging the private sector and fostering an investment-friendly environment in the country.

Speaking at the Investment Board’s meeting in New Baneshwor today, PM Dahal stressed the need to facilitate, rather than control, the private sector to ensure development and prosperity.

He highlighted that the concept of control is outdated in today’s global context.

Dahal advocated for a new development model that collaborates closely with the private sector, emphasizing that without their involvement, true progress cannot be achieved.

He directed Board officials to adopt policies that encourage development to meet the aspirations and expectations of the public.

Regarding the upcoming Third Investment Summit, scheduled to take place in Kathmandu in less than a week, the Prime Minister urged a shift towards presenting practical projects rather than merely expressing wishes.

He emphasized the importance of delivering with a positive attitude to ensure the summit’s success.

Dahal noted recent amendments to certain Acts aimed at attracting foreign investment, indicating a positive direction for the country’s investment climate.

Encouraging simplicity in procedures related to development projects, Dahal underscored the need for political leadership to address challenges that arise during the implementation of beneficial initiatives.

He prioritized the steel industry’s development and urged serious efforts towards its establishment.

Additionally, PM Dahal instructed the Board to prioritize irrigation projects to create job opportunities in the agriculture sector.

He called for the acceleration of stalled development projects, highlighting their crucial role in the nation’s progress.
