KATHMANDU: In a spectacular display of batting prowess, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) unleashed a relentless onslaught to secure a commanding 67-run triumph over the Delhi Capitals (DC) in a high-scoring encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
SRH’s batting juggernaut, led by Travis Head’s scintillating 89 off just 32 balls, propelled them to a monumental total of 266, marking the fourth-highest score in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Head’s explosive innings, studded with 11 towering sixes and six boundaries, set the tone for SRH’s formidable onslaught.
The opening onslaught saw SRH amass a staggering 125 runs in the powerplay, setting a new IPL record.
Abhishek Sharma’s blazing cameo of 46 further bolstered SRH’s charge, as they surpassed the 200-run mark in just nine overs.
Despite DC’s efforts to stem the flow of runs, Shahbaz Ahmed’s unbeaten 59 off 29 deliveries, ably supported by Nitish Reddy, propelled SRH to an imposing total of 266.
In response, DC embarked on a valiant chase with Prithvi Shaw’s aggressive start, but SRH’s disciplined bowling unit, led by T Natarajan’s exceptional spell of 4 wickets for just 19 runs, dismantled DC’s batting lineup.
Despite a valiant effort from Jake Fraser-McGurk, who blazed his way to a blistering 50 off just 15 balls, DC faltered under SRH’s relentless pressure and were eventually bowled out for 199.
SRH’s comprehensive victory reaffirms their dominance in the TATA IPL and underscores their formidable batting prowess, leaving them in a strong position as the tournament progresses.
