Nepal elects to bat first against Hong Kong for ACC Premier Cup third position



KATHMANDU: Nepal has chosen to bat first against Hong Kong in the battle for the third position in the ACC Premier Cup on Saturday.

After winning the toss, Nepal decided to set the target for their opponents.

Following a loss to UAE in the first semifinal and Hong Kong’s defeat against Oman in the second semifinal, both teams are now competing for the third spot in the tournament.

In the first semifinal, Nepal faced a six-wicket defeat against UAE.

Despite dominating all their group stage matches and advancing undefeated to the semifinals, Nepal struggled against UAE’s bowler Saamad Sheikh, who emerged as the star performer.

In the second semifinal, Hong Kong suffered a loss to Oman by five wickets, setting the stage for their clash with Nepal for the third position.

The match for the third position is scheduled to commence at 4:15 PM NST on Saturday, with both teams aiming to salvage their tournament performance.

The final of the Premier Cup is set to be contested between hosts Oman and UAE on Sunday.

Nepal has its sights set on securing a place in the Emerging Cup by winning the match for the third position.

The top three teams in the Premier Cup will earn the opportunity to compete in the ACC Emerging Cup.
