Nepal welcomes over 1 million tourists in 2023, with average stay of 13.2 days



KATHMANDU: Nepal greeted a total of 1,014,882 tourists in 2023, marking a significant increase in visitor numbers.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, tourists spent an average of 13.2 days in Nepal, slightly higher than the previous year’s figure of 13.1 days.

In 2021, the average stay was 15.5 days, and in 2020, it was 15.1 days.

Furthermore, there was a notable surge of 65.05 percent in tourist arrivals in 2023 compared to the previous year.

In terms of demographics, male tourists comprised 55.84 percent, while female tourists accounted for 44.12 percent, indicating a slight increase in female visitors.

Among age groups, tourists aged between 31-45 years old were the most prominent, followed by those aged between 46 to 60 years old.
