Nepal vs. Saudi Arabia ACC Premier Cup match shortened to eight overs due to rain delay

Nepal won the toss and elected to bowl first

KATHMANDU: The highly anticipated T20 encounter between Nepal and Saudi Arabia in the ACC Premier Cup has been curtailed to just eight overs owing to a persistent rain delay and a waterlogged outfield.

With Nepal already securing a berth in the semi-finals of the ACC Premier Cup, today’s clash against Saudi Arabia marks the culmination of the group stage matches.

After winning the toss, Nepal has opted to field first, capitalizing on the conditions.

Originally scheduled to commence at 11:45 am, the match faced delays due to inclement weather.

Nepal’s journey to the semi-finals has been marked by a stellar performance, securing victory in all three preceding matches.

They commenced their campaign with a five-wicket triumph over Malaysia, followed by a commanding 32-run win against Qatar.

In their third encounter, Nepal displayed dominance once again, clinching an eight-wicket victory over Hong Kong.

With the top two teams from each group progressing to the semi-finals, Nepal’s stellar performance solidifies their position in the tournament.

The ultimate showdown is slated for April 21, with the tournament victor earning a coveted spot in the prestigious 2025 T20 Asia Cup.
