Key takeaway from PM Dahal and leader Jhalanath Khanal’s meeting

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN (Unified Socialist) leader Jhalanath Khanal convened for a meeting on Tuesday morning to address ongoing concerns within the ruling coalition.

The meeting comes amidst dissatisfaction expressed by the Unified Socialist regarding power-sharing in Sudurpaschim Province.

According to Khanal, the discussion with PM Dahal concluded positively, with an agreement to allow the Unified Socialist to lead the Sudurpaschim government.

Khanal emphasized that the key solution to the current dispute lies in implementing the previously reached agreement, granting the Unified Socialist leadership in the Sudurpaschim government within the ruling alliance.

The presence of Ranjita Shrestha, Chairperson of Nagarik Unmukti Party, added significance to the meeting.

The CPN (Unified Socialist) has voiced disagreement with the ruling alliance’s decision to grant the Chief Minister post of Sudurpaschim Province to the Nagarik Unmukti Party.

In a recent development, the CPN (US) supported the Resham Chaudhary faction, backed by Nepali Congress, in staking a claim on the post of CM of the province, leading to heightened tensions within the ruling alliance.
