Government prorogues winter session of House

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to prorogue the winter session of parliament effective from midnight Sunday.

Reading the notice issued by the Office of the President during the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire officially declared the conclusion of the winter session.

The government’s recommendation to prorogue the House session from midnight on April 14 was ratified by President Ram Chandra Poudel.

Despite the presence of several pending bills awaiting endorsement, the government’s decision to conclude the House session has raised concerns among opposition parties.
