KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Vice Chairman Dr. Swarnim Wagle has asserted that the corruption scandal regarding Lalita Niwas began during the tenure of Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba as Home Minister.
Addressing journalists at the Parliament premises in New Baneshwor on Tuesday, the RSP Vice Chairman alleged that the process of transferring Lalita Niwas’ public land into private ownership commenced during Deuba’s tenure as Home Minister.
“The initiative to transfer Lalita Niwas land to private individuals began during the time when the leader of the opposition party (Deuba) served as Home Minister,” he stated.
Dr. Wagle emphasized that the RSP has been advocating for an independent high-level commission to investigate corruption cases dating back to the 1990s.
Meanwhile, the NC has called for a parliamentary inquiry into Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, accusing him of misappropriating cooperative funds.
