UML and Maoist Center assert claim to form new govt in Koshi Province

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) have jointly staked their claim to form a new government in Koshi Province.

With the backing of 52 lawmakers, the two parties made their bid to establish a new administration on Monday.

Prior to this, both parties had withdrawn their support from the government led by Chief Minister Kedar Karki.

Asserting that Chief Minister Karki no longer commands a majority in the province, these parties have urged the Province Chief to appoint Hikmat Kumar Karki, the parliamentary party leader of UML, as the new Chief Minister of the province.
