High Court orders appearance of both parties in Sandeep Lamichhane’s case, next hearing on April 15

KATHMANDU: The High Court in Patan has ordered both parties to appear before the court in the case involving cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane.

The order was issued in response to Lamichhane’s writ seeking a review of the case in which he was found guilty.

The division bench, comprising Judge Nripadhwaj Niroula and Justice Krishnaram Koirla, has requested the presence of both parties before proceeding with further hearings.

Such orders are issued to settle disputes and require the opposing party to provide information.

According to sources from the High Court, the next hearing in the case has been scheduled for April 15.

In a verdict on a case filed by Gaushala 26, the Kathmandu District Court found cricketer Lamichhane guilty of rape and sentenced him to eight years in prison and a fine of Rs 300,000.

Subsequently, Lamichhane filed an appeal against the district court’s decision at the Patan High Court.

The victim woman has also filed a petition expressing dissatisfaction with the punishment given to Lamichhane, claiming it was inadequate.
