ODI Series: Nepal ‘A’ fielding against Ireland ‘A’ after losing toss

KATHMANDU:  In the ODI series against Ireland ‘A’, the Nepal ‘A’ cricket team lost the toss and opted to field first.

This decision comes as Ireland ‘A’ won the toss and chose to bat.

The three-match ODI series between Nepal ‘A’ and Ireland ‘A’ begins at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Wednesday.

After a disappointing loss in the T20 series on home soil, the Nepali team is determined to turn the tables and start the ODI series on a high note.

Conversely, Ireland aims to maintain the momentum gained from the previous matches.

Under the leadership of Binod Bhandari, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has finalized the squad for the series, featuring familiar faces from the T20 team including Kamal Singh Airee, Arif Sheikh, Dev Khanal, Bashir Ahmed, and Bikas Agri.

Previously, Nepal ‘A’ lost the T20 series against Ireland ‘A’ at home with a scoreline of 2-1.

However, in a testament to their capability, Nepal’s senior team managed to secure victories in a two-match T20 series against Ireland ‘A’ prior to this.

The schedule for the ODI series includes matches on April 5 and the concluding game on April 7, offering ample opportunities for both teams to showcase their skills and vie for supremacy.

Nepal ‘A’ ODI squad includes Binod Bhandari (captain), Arjun Kumal, Dev Khanal, Naren Bhatta, Bhim Sarki, Arjun Saud, Arif Sheikh, Bashir Ahmed, Kamal Singh Airee, Shahab Alam, Ranjit Kumar, Rupesh Singh, Rijan Dhakal, Bikash Agri, and Mausam Dhakal.
