Finnish Ambassador Riina-Riikka Heikka meets Minister Bhagwati Chaudhary

KATHMANDU: The Ambassador of Finland to Nepal, Riina-Riikka Heikka, paid a courtesy visit to Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens Bhagwati Chaudhary at her office in Singh Durbar, Kathmandu.

During the meeting, discussions revolved around enhancing relations between the two countries and collaborating on issues related to women, children, senior citizens, and gender and sexual minorities.

Minister Chaudhary highlighted the longstanding harmonious relationship between Nepal and Finland since the establishment of diplomatic ties in September 21, 1974.

She emphasized Nepal’s commitment to fostering friendship, goodwill, and cooperation with Finland.

Expressing gratitude for Finland’s assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, Minister Chaudhary expressed optimism that Finland’s support would contribute to uplifting the socio-economic status of rural communities in Nepal.

Additionally, Minister Chaudhary outlined Nepal’s aspirations to transition from an underdeveloped country to a middle-income country by 2030 and expressed appreciation for Finland’s collaboration in advocating for climate change initiatives at various international forums.

Ambassador Heikka reaffirmed Finland’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Nepal and expressed willingness to collaborate on mutual development goals.
