Maoist Center recommends four candidates for Ilam-2 by-election



KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist Center has recommended four names as potential candidates for the upcoming by-election in Ilam-2.

Based on recommendations from the Ilam District Coordination Committee, the Maoist Center’s Provincial Committee has forwarded a list of four prospective candidates for the by-election.

According to Harka Bahadur Nembang, Chairman of the party’s Koshi Province, the recommended names include central member Dhirendra Sharma Timsina, Urmila Tamang, Ombahadur Gurung, and Kumar Baraili.

Meanwhile, CPN-UML has nominated Suhang Nemwang, the son of the late Subas Nemwang, as its candidate.

Similarly, Nepali Congress has recommended seven individuals. There is a possibility that Dambar Bahadur Khadka, who lost in the 2079 elections, may be selected this time.

Furthermore, Dakendrasingh Thegim has been declared a candidate by the distinct identity seekers. Milan Limbu has also announced his candidacy from the same group.

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is set to announce its candidate on Wednesday.

Dr. CK Raut’s Janamat Party has nominated Premdeep Thamsuhang as its candidate for the by-election.

The candidate for CPN-Unified Socialist Party is yet to be announced.

Ilam-2 is undergoing a by-election on April 27 following the passing of UML leader Subas Chandra Nembang on September 12, 2023.
