World Cup Football Qualifier: Nepal facing Bahrain tonight



KATHMANDU: Nepal is playing against Bahrain today in its fourth match of second phase under FIFA World Cup and AFC Asian Cup Qualifier.

The game would be held at National Stadium of Bahrain from 12:45 am Nepal time tonight.

Nepal is under the pressure to win today’s match to keep alive the chances of qualifying for the world cup.

Nepal would be out from playing World Cup and Asia Qualifier if it lost today’s match.

Nepal had entered the second phase of the qualifier defeating Laos in its first-phase match.

Similarly, it has not been able to win a single game under the second-phase. It was defeated in all three second-phase matches.

In the first match held in the United Arab Emirates, Nepal lost to UAE by 4-0 goals, to Yemen by 2-0 goals in the second match held in home ground and to Bahrain by 5-0 in the third match.

Nepal is in group ‘H’ in the second phase.

Similarly, Bahrain, Yemen and UAE are in the same group.

Winning three games in three matches, UAE is on top position with nine points while Bahrain in second position with six points.

Likewise, Yemen is in third position with three points while Nepal is without a point, losing all three matches.

Kiran Chemjong, Bishal Sunar and Abhishek Rai are goalkeepers in the Nepali team while Abhishekh Limbu, Ananta Tamang, Tshering Lama, Ajay Chaudhary, Shanis Shrestha, Saubhagya Rai and Sumit Shrestha are defenders.

Bharat Khawas, Bishal Basnet, Loken Limbu, Mani Kumar Lama, Manish Dangi, Rohan Karki and Utsav Rai are playing in the mid-field while Anjan Bista, Dinesh Henjan, Samir Tamang, Sanjeev Bista, Hisub Thapaliya and Gillespie Jung Karki are the forwards.
