PM Dahal defends Home Minister Lamichhane amid fraud allegations

"Reports confirm innocence," says Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has defended Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, asserting his innocence in a cooperative fraud case.

PM Dahal’s statement comes amidst criticism from the main opposition party, Nepali Congress, questioning Lamichhane’s appointment as Home Minister due to his alleged involvement in the fraud case.

Nepali Congress has been disrupting parliament sessions, demanding Lamichhane’s resignation.

In response, PM Dahal has maintained that there is no justification for Lamichhane to resign.

He clarified that investigative bodies found no evidence implicating Lamichhane in the fraud case.

“Minister Lamichhane is not linked to the fraud case. The complaint originated in Pokhara, but it does not warrant Lamichhane’s resignation,” PM Dahal stated in an interview with Kantipur Television.

“I have reviewed the investigation and found no wrongdoing on Lamichhane’s part. There’s a misconception among the public that needs to be addressed,” PM Dahal added.
